The idea for this logo, came from the research & feedback from neurodiverse students at university.
Masking is a huge common factor for neurodiverse people in daily life. It's draining & takes quite a heroic effort to maintain for any amount of time.
This sparked the idea of trying to combine a masquerade type mask symbolizing hiding true identity, and a heroes mask because of the effort involved in masking.

This mask design I originally settled on received lots of positive comments from a range of people & seemed to fit visually and communicate. The next step was to decide how to incorporate the rainbow style colouring to the logo, as it is a strong & already widely accepted part of the neurodiversity understood visual language.

These are the versions of gradient I tested for feedback to get a consensus on which one to move forward with.

This was the unanimous winner, all who were asked said this was their favourite version of the mask with rainbow gradient.

As is often the way in design, with some playing around and further testing, I noticed the proportions weren't quite right for a human mask. So I further developed then mask to fit human dimensions. I also on closer looks wasn't entirely happy with some curves around the eyes, or the sharp corners.
To remedy this, I used a combination of golden ratio circles & golden ratio spirals, and rounded stroke corners. The end result has softened the logo, making it more androgynous, which is perfect because neurodiversity affects all people.

Above is my final results for this passion project of mine to create a neurodiversity logo that is not gender biased in any way, but is representative of all.
